Windows 10: Windows Defender refuses to turn off no matter what and it keeps deleting my files....

I just cannot stop windows defender from deleting files it deems malicious even though it's only a false positive. I contacted Microsoft support and below is everything we tried, none of them worked. He concluded that it was probably a bug on this evaluation copy of windows. No matter what we did even if Windows defender said it was off it still took action. This build was from the beta channel. If any devs see this, if it's possible please send me a way either go back to stable or to another evaluation copy that way I won't have this bug hopefully. I have submitted this to the feedback already.

created the following keys with DWORD 32 bit value and assigned it from 0 to 1:
-DisableAntiSpyware
Real-time protecion folder
-DisableBehaviorMonitoring
-DisableOnAccessProtection
-DisableScanOnRealtimeEnable
Restart

Windows Defender Keeps Deleting File, Even Excluded

So I have a .exe file to play a game. It is a small game and so the file isn't registered or anything like that.

Windows Defender declared it a virus and deleted it, so I added it to the Exclusions list, but for some reason it keeps deleting it anyways. The only effective way to keep it is to turn off Windows Defender, but even then Defender will turn back on at some
random point and delete it again. I have had to just keep redownloading this file to keep playing. I can't seem to find a way to stop it from doing this. Also, I am sure it is not a virus, nor has one hidden in it.

This is super annoying, if anyone knows how to fix this please let me know.

Are you running any other AV or did you have one running in the past? If you didn't use an uninstaller for the AV, then the remnants of it could be causing the problem. Normally any time you install an AV it disables Defender by default.

If you are getting any error codes please list those, that will be helpful in helping you.

As torre suggested, might be a good idea to do a reset or even a reinstall.

WINDOWS DEFENDER is turned off

Since you're not able to turn on Windows Defender as well, we'd like to know if you have made any changes recently prior to this issue. In the meantime, you may follow the steps below on how to turn on Windows Defender manually:

• Type Windows Defender in the Search bar and press
  Enter.
  
• Go to Settings and make sure that the Turn on real-time protection recommended option is turned on.
  

Same thing with the other members who are having the same issue, we suggest that you check if the service was setup to
Automatic in the Services option. Please follow the steps that we've provided last
September 3, 2017.

Let us know how if you were able to turn it on properly by changing the Startup type to Automatic.
