    Hello, Im having this problem where windows defender is telling me I have like 3 threats that i need to take care of and every time I click "take action" it just goes back to scan for threats, this just started happening when I got the lastest update for windows, is this a glitch or do I have a virus? If I have a virus how do I get rid of it? - Dr

    "Virus and Threat Scan" Option missing from Windows Defender

    A week ago, I downloaded the Microsoft Office apps so I could get access to Excel and Word for my school work. After logging in today, I noticed that Windows prompted me to change my PIN and upon entry found that there was no option for me perform a security
    scan in Windows defender like I usually do. After signing in and out constantly to see if anything changed, I decided to reinstall Windows to check if that would fix the issue, which did solve it. However, in reinstalling the apps that were removed, I found
    that the "Virus and Threat Scan" option went missing again right after I installed Microsoft Office. My question is if I can somehow access and restore the ability to "Virus and Threat Scan" option in Windows Defender without reinstalling Windows?

    OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Home

    Build: 10.0.18632 Build 18632

    "Virus and Threat Scan" Option missing from Windows Defender

    So after installing Malwarebytes, Windows Security had returned the "Virus and Threat Protection" option on with Marlwarebytes in its place. Sadly after uninstalling MBytes, "Virus and Threat Protection" option disappeared again with Defenders asking me
    to turn back on its Protection. Which I couldn't because it once again gave me a "IT admin has limited acess" prompt. I will now try the next step that you proposed.

    "Virus and Threat Scan" Option missing from Windows Defender

    Apologies, I misunderstood Step 5 and found the two files as mentioned and have now disabled them both alongside the "Client Interface's" option of "Enable headless UI mode". After restarting Win10 and opening Windows Defender, the issue still persists with
    "Virus and Threat Protection" Option still missing.

    I also tried the REG DELETE command for the Command Prompt and it gave me same error " system unable to find the specified registry key or value." That;s update I have regarding this issue.
