    Windows Defender sucks and so are other antiviruses Help!


    My computer was recently hacked and I tried removing it with windows defender but windows defender does NOTHING about it! So I tried using other antiviruses, EVERY SINGLE ONE IN THE PAST HAS TOLD ME TO PAY FOR IT! And it's not cheap too! Is there any antivirus out there that needs no payment!? Or at least a trial then switch to pay! Or am I just straight up screwed?

    Is Using Windows Defender As Good As Avast or Other Antiviruses

    I'm just wondering if Windows Defender will work as well as others will? Because the other ones keep advertising me to upgrade and it gets on my nerves. And was wondering if Windows Defender works as good as the other free antiviruses.

    windows defender & security center services keep turning off


    Are you running any other AV or did you have one running in the past? If you didn't use an uninstaller for the AV, then the remnants of it could be causing the problem. Normally any time you install an AV it disables Defender by default.

    If you are getting any error codes please list those, that will be helpful in helping you.

    As torre suggested, might be a good idea to do a reset or even a reinstall.
