Windows Defender suddenly decided that a 2-line VBScript contain 2 Trojans and then changed... -iE0fbRUb31Fp7EaLgLWNW65Z0eQOB70Q8S4QoRGSQA.jpg

The touchpad driver of Lenovo ThinkPad will automatically create a start menu entry each time after system startup, which I don't need since I can already access it via Control Panel. So I‘ve written a simple VBE script and add it to autostart to silently remove that "TouchPad" start menu entry.

    set ws=wscript.createobject("wscript.shell") ws.run "cmd /min /C ""set __COMPAT_LAYER=RUNASINVOKER && rmdir /s /q ""C:\Users\<MyUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\TouchPad""",0

It worked for a pretty long time without any problem. But when the computer was turned on this morning, I got two Windows Defender warnings and an error message from WScript.exe, telling me that the VBE script cannot run because it contains malicious code.

After I recovered the script from quarantine and scan it again, Windows Defender calmed down and reported no threat. Nor is the VBE script altered: it still contains only two lines mentioned above and the date is not changed.

  2. Windows Defender Said Severe Trojan that Could Contain Commands Directed from Elsewhere

    Hello,

A message popped up on my Windows 10 laptop from Windows Defender that said "Threats have been found": I pushed the message and/or went into Windows Defender and then a description of a severe Trojan appeared. It then said do you
want to "clear list," so I said yes, BUT I didn't know what to do from there, because another message popped up saying "Do you want this program to change this computer?," to which I said "no"; however I'm not sure what that meant? I had thought it meant
the Trojan would download so, of course, I said "no," but now I'm thinking it was a message to remove it -- because "clear list" can mean anything. I bought this PC last month, and its Windows Defender is different from what I had on my old laptop, which had
clearer direction. I'm not sure what happened,, or even if I got rid of Trojan when I pressed "clear list." Essentially, I have no idea -- on this Windows Defender -- how to remove a quarantined threat -- not sure what and what not to press, or even if press
anything whether the Trojan is gone.

I don't even know when Windows Defender updates are complete because there isn't a message saying so -- the filling line just stops.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks,

    Daffy

How do you change the text to speech voice in a (Windows) vbscript?

    Hey guys,

I'm trying to create a text to speech vbscript. The problem I'm having is that I can only select between 3 voices. I have 8 available in Windows 10.

    Here is my code:

    Code: set voice = CreateObject("SAPI.SpVoice") set voice.Voice = voice.GetVoices.Item(1) voice.Rate = 1 voice.Volume = 90 voice.Speak TextMessage[/quote] I get a vbs error message when I choose a number greater than 2 for the voice.GetVoices.Item(1) parameter.

    Error: 0x80045039
    Code: 80045039
    Source: (null)

    Any suggestions?

    TIA,

Trojan: Win32/Rundas!plock What does this trojan do?

So, I just had this supposed trojan appear on my system.

The funny thing: It was detected on my old CD of Rayman 2, from 2000. I was trying to install the game and now I can't because Windows Defender is blocking me, claiming that "SetupUbi.exe" contains the malware.

I'm pretty certain that the CD shouldn't contain a trojan from 2016, as it's an original disk from more than a decade ago.

Also, I cannot whitelist the file, as Windows Defender is already set in its opinion that it's magical malware from the future.

Can I please get a suggestion on how I'm supposed to install my game now?
