Windows 10: Windows Defender Turns Off Features Without Warning and Other Issues

HelloI'm using a clean install of Win11, 10.0.22621, Build 22621, because I was having some of these similar concerns in Win10 with WDThe basics are WD will turn off Blocking incoming connections that I have enabled for all three sources, Domain, Private and Public. It seems random but I don't get a warning. With no warning, I'm constantly checking the app to see the status.I have had the App & Browser control to just stop functioning, as well as the Virus and Threat protection.I ran a sfc /scannow which found some errors but reported they were fixedI ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /Re

WINDOWS DEFENDER is turned off

Hi Ahmed,

Since you're not able to turn on Windows Defender as well, we'd like to know if you have made any changes recently prior to this issue. In the meantime, you may follow the steps below on how to turn on Windows Defender manually:

• Type Windows Defender in the Search bar and press
  Enter.
  
• Go to Settings and make sure that the Turn on real-time protection recommended option is turned on.
  

Same thing with the other members who are having the same issue, we suggest that you check if the service was setup to
Automatic in the Services option. Please follow the steps that we've provided last
September 3, 2017.

Let us know how if you were able to turn it on properly by changing the Startup type to Automatic.

 

Windows update and windows defender issues

We suggest you to avoid installing any cleaner or anti-virus software that may interrupt the function of Windows Defender. Make sure that Windows Defender is always on. To do this follow these steps:

• On the Start menu, type Windows Defender and hit enter.
  
• Click Settings.
  
• Turn Real-time protection on.

We also recommend you to install the latest update for Windows Defender.

Cannot Turn-on Windows Defender

I would suggest you to follow the methods given below and check.

Method 1:

Windows Defender won't run if it detects any third party security software on your machine.
If you have any third party security software installed on your system, please remove that and check the issue.

If issue still persists try method 2,

Method 2:

I suggest you try restarting Windows Defender service and check if issue is resolved. To do so kindly follow the below given steps:

• Press Windows key + R key and type services.msc,
  hit enter.
• Search Windows Defender Service.:1) Windows Defender Service ; 2)
  Windows Defender Network.
• Right click on each and press Start.
• Restart your computer and check if issue persist.
