Windows 10: Windows Defender will not keep quiet !!

HP Desktop Win 10 with all updates.


I was on Windows Defender alone. At some point it started reminding me multiple times a day, We Have Turned Windows Defender on ~ blah ~ blah. Annoying.

I have been to suggested fixes. I even installed a 3rd party Virus program thinking that would shut Defender up~! It didn't. So I got rid of the 3rd party and back on WD and it still keeps telling me it's turning on.

I have been in and checked and unchecked everything that was suggested but no resolve.

Do you or someone know how I can satisfy WD so it will be quiet?

Quiet Hours are times of day when you don't want to be disturbed by notifications. How to set them up:

• 1. Click the Action Center icon on the taskbar.
• 2. Click Quiet hours.
  3. Set your Quiet Hours.

The last (3) seems to suggest there is a setting - but as you - and others- have observed it seems to be just an on/off button now.

E.g.

I've not seen Quiet hours on, so can't comment on your other query, sorry.

 

Windows Defender problem

To troubleshoot this issue, we suggest that you check the Windows Defender service if it's running. If you are using a third party spyware/malware program, it may disable the Windows Defender service. To do this, please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows + R key.
• Type services.msc.
