Windows defender scans they system entirely too much. Every time I turn around I get a message that the pc has been found free of virus and has been scanned at least twice. Why must this scanning constantly take place if no new data has been introduced into the pc by means of downloads?? To me, the ideal antivirus program will scan only during or after something is actually downloaded. Since the system was not changed by the introduction of new data, there is no reason to constantly scan what was scanned just hours ago. This constant scanning cannot be stopped, at least not for long. If you go to services and tell it to scan only when idle, it considers you sitting there reading online idle or playing a game is idle, so there goes the scan. Over and over. Please, Microsoft put a stop to the madness. I already use GNU/Linux for 90% of my work, but games are on Windows. These scans eat a lot of resources and make computing a bummer.

PS. Please, no pages full of the generic responses they do not work. Don't reply just to make brownie points. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed by Microsoft with action on their behalf and not simple workarounds on our behalf.

    :)
