    hi!

    with win 8.1 and avira free i have win defender disabled
    upgrading to win 10 makes me having both working:
    avira
    and win defender
    i was able to scan and to be protected in live background
    having them both in real time protection
    then i try disabling win defender and now
    i'm not able to re-enable it..
    i guess i should have first to disinstal avira..but..
    why at upgrading they worked altogheter and fine..??

    windows defender

    Normally when you install 3rd party anti virus software, they disable WD. As you say try uninstalling Avira, check the status of WD, then reinstall Avira and check WD's status once again.

    but have you also experienced their working fine both altogheter in real time?
    or as been only a case due to the upgrade from 8.1 to 10..??

    For the most part, AV's do not play well together. I'd guess that was a fluke that they both were running at the same time.

    The exception to the above would be Malwarebytes, which plays well with almost all AV's.
