Windows 10: Windows Defenders has shut down my ability to add applications

A recent update seems to have crippled my ability to add applications. Noticed it won't allow me to save game versions but that isn't crippling. Have attempted to load the software for a new printer/scanner/fax and it keeps blocking the install. It looks like it installs but then not allowed to scan, don't have access to the folder. Try add the application in but can't find it in the folder because it didn't load.


How do I shut down this update and become functional again?

Shutting Down Windows Defender for good.

I need to shut off Windows Defender for good.

I can't have two softwares doing the same job twice, been using Norton since 2000/1 and continue to use it. I need to have Windows Defender shut down for good.

Any suggestions?

 

Can't launch any applications

Hi,

This error message will show if the application or program that you are trying to open was been blocked by Windows Defender SmartScreen. Having said that, we suggest that you disable Windows Defender SmartScreen by following these steps:

• Click on Start.
• Type Windows Defender Security Center.
• Click on App & browser control.
• Click on Off in the following options:
  • Check apps and files.
  • SmartScreen for Microsoft Edge.
  • SmartScreen for Windows Store apps.
• SmartScreen is now completely disabled. If you'd like to still receive a warning when a potentially malicious file or program is detected, you can choose Warn in each SmartScreen option.
