    Windows Deleted All File History Versions Error 200


    So I was trying to fix a File History 200 error with the configuration file and suddenly Windows deleted all File History versions which Is store on a internal HDD (not the one used for my OS installation. Is there anyway to get my old versions back? Windows just decided to delete them all without asking... I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64bit version 20H2. What happened just before the File Versions were deleted was when I tried stop using a drive for FH I would get error code 0x80070020 which has happened again. :/

    Delete selected newer files from Windows 10 File History backup

    Hi,

    Let's follow these steps to delete the older version of your files in Windows 10:

    • Open the Control Panel (icons view), and click/tap on the File History icon.
    • Click/tap on the Advanced settings link on the left side.
    • Click/tap on the Clean up versions link in the Versions section.
    • Select the time period of versions you want to delete, and click/tap on Clean up.
    • File History Cleanup will now start discovering items for the specified time period, and delete them if available.
    • If it didn't find any versions of your files that were that old, click/tap on Close, and repeat step 4 above using a shorter time period if you like.
    • If the cleanup completed successfully, click/tap on OK.
    • You can now close the File History control panel if you like.

    Update us with the results.

    How to delete files from file history .

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community.

    Let’s try with the below steps and check if he issue resolves

    • Enter File History settings in the search box, and then tap or click File History settings.
    • Tap or click Select a drive, and choose the network or external drive you want to use.
    • Turn on File History.
    You go to the location where file history is saved and delete the file if you want to do so.

    Note: check the locations included for file history and check if there is third party back up in any of these locations. Removing file history completely won't affect your system image that you have already created.

    Can I delete current individual Document entries in File History and still have File History work properly for future listings and maintain my old listings?

    Another tech forum said:
    "File History keeps a database of all the files backed up. Since you manually deleted data in the File History folder (My Documents), the database and file store would be out of sync."
