Discus and support windows desktop restarting ~2 sec //Explorer.exe stack overrun in Safe Mode, no flash in Windows 10 Installation and Upgrade to solve the problem; I suspect this is a failed update issue.     windows desktop restarting ~2 sec //Explorer.exe stack overrun in Safe Mode, no flash


    I suspect this is a failed update issue.


    Restarted laptop, on login using MS acct, windows icons and screen loads and resets about every 2 sec.

    Task bar initially blank, then populates, then resets.


    Restarted in Safe mode, no flash but got

    This recurs when closed or 'OK'.

    Shut down first time in weeks on 4 May, restarted 5 May.


    Uninstall of 'new features' failed.

    I'm going to try sfc /scannow and uninstall

    “The system detected an overrun of a stack-based buffer in this application. This overrun could potentially allow a malicious user to gain control of this application“

    Any suggestion as to what the problem is and how to rectify the problem?

    Hello! I hope all is well. For some reason, out of nowhere, my window's PC began to restart the explorer.exe process over and over and over. It continues to crash and restart. I received the following error message when I booted in safe mode:

    The system detected an overrun of a stack-based buffer in this application. This overrun could potentially allow a malicious user to gain control of this application.

    I can't do anything when I boot into normal mode because my computer restarts explorer.exe so frequently that its impossible to get things running before it's closed and restarted.

    Steps I've taken:

    Ran malware scan - results were nothing

    Ran sfc scannow - results nothing

    Ran Reset computer but keep apps and files - results nothing

    What do I need to do to fix this?

    How to: Recover from bad flash with no secondary card or onboard.

    Step 1: Turn your PC on normally.
    Step 2: Press f8 and go into safe mode.
    Step 3: When you're in safe mode, go into device manager and disable your video card.
    Step 4: Restart computer(don't go into safe mode).
    Step 5: Flash your card like you normally do.
    Step 6: Go into device manager and enable your video card.
    Step 7: Restart pc and it will work.
    I found this method when I flashed my 4870 and restarted pc by accident. This method worked for me when I was using a ATI card, can someone confirm that this method works for Nvidia cards.

    I posted this on OCN and I might as well post it on this forum to help out others.
