Windows 10: Windows "Device Disconnect" sound out of control

Just recently, my Win10 Dell XPS 13 started making continuous alert sounds. I identified the sound as the Windows Device Disconnect sound. I thought it was my Toshiba external HDD so I safely removed it and physically disconnected it. However, Windows still kept making that sound. I use a Cozysmart 4 in 1 USB C Hub extender for external devices including my monitor. I shut the PC power off and restarted without the Cozysmart extender plugged in. So far, no Device Disconnect sounds. Is this thing just failing or does it need a driver? Just curious before buying another.

I would like to inform you that this issue you are facing might be due to Sound settings on your computer. So I would suggest you to follow below steps to make changes in Sound Settings and check.

• In search, type Sound and hit Enter.
• From the bottom panel click on Sounds.
• Under Program Events, look for Device Connect, Disconnect and Failed to Connect.
• Choose one option at a time and from the sounds option choose none.

Check if you still come across the sound.

wireless headphone connected but sound disconnecting repeatedly

There are various factors why sound may disconnect while using wireless headphone. It can be due to outdated sound drivers or corruptions. To better isolate your concern, kindly answer the following questions:

• Have you made any recent changes before this issue occur?
• Have you tried updating you sound drivers?
• Have you tried using another headphone and check if the issue still persist?

If the connect/disconnect sounds is only happening when playing an specific game, It might be a game app or a driver issue. we suggest that you try to uninstall and reinstall the game and check if the problem persists. Check the steps provided below:

• Open the Start menu.
• Click Settings.
• Click System on the Settings menu.
• Select Apps & features from the left pane. ...
• Select an app you wish to uninstall.
• Click the Uninstall button that appears.

Make sure also that your device software drivers are updated.
