    Windows Distributed COM error 10016 Crashing my browser

    For about a month now, I have been having browser crashes. After Chrome support proved useless, I learned how to use the event viewer; and always got the same error immediately preceding the crash;

    The application-specific permission settings do not grant local activation permission for the COM server application with CLSID {D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160} and APPID {9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB702511C276} to the user PC\Me SID (Insert SID Here) From address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (unavailable) This security permission can be modified using the Componenet services administrative tool.

    Both CLSID and APPID pointers belong to Runtime Broker

    So far I have tried;

    Restarting (obviously) (fixes the problem for somewhere between 10 minutes and 10 hours)

    Regedit:

    Deleting specific registry entries under hkey Local macine\software\microsoft\ole (DefaultAccessPermission, DefaultLaunchPermission, MachineAccessRestriction, MachineLaunchRestriction.)

    Changing ownership of Runtime Broker to Administrators in both the APPID and CLSID folders

    Component services>DCOM Config>RuntimeBroker:

    Upon first opening Launch and activation permissions, it told me that some entries were corrupted/invalid (did not specify which, and asked if I wanted to ignore or delete them eventually decided to delete

    Adding local Launch and local Activation permissions to System, Me (Specific User), Local Service, and local and remote launch and activation to Administrators (Group)

    Attempted to add launch and activation permissions for chrome.exe (wasn't recognized)

    .

    Oddly enough there is an entry under launch and activation permissions called account unknown with all local permissions, and an SID that isn't unknown.

    Can't find anything else through google searches, and I can't ignore it because Chrome is my preferred Browser (Firefox is Okay, IE sucks, and Edge is worthless),

    Any help?

    :)

  3. Error 10016 - System Crash

    Hi,

    So for the past couple months I have been experiencing system crashes. No error reports or blue screens other than one that appears in my system log: Screenshot.

    I am trying to follow a fix I found online: https://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/fix-error-10016-windows-event-viewer/

    Whenever I get to the step about adding System into the launch permissions of the RuntimeBroker the add button is greyed out: http://prntscr.com/jua14k

    My first question that I have is that is it even possible that this is the error causing my whole system to crash?

    My next question would be how do I fix it?

    Browser Tab Crashing

    Hi,

    Corrupted browser cache and extensions are some of the things that can cause your browser to crash. To isolate your concern, we'd like to ask the following:

    • Have you made any recent changes on your device prior to your concern?
    • Have you tried using a different browser other than the ones mentioned above? If yes, did you encounter the same error?
    • What are the troubleshooting steps that you've performed to resolve your concern?

    To rule out any performance issues, we suggest that you replicate your concern while you're in the clean boot environment and check if the issue persists. To do this, follow the steps provided on this

    link
    .

    We'll appreciate if you can send us an update.
