  2. Checking Disk Consistency

Ok i did as viper suggested, but it stops checking at stage 3. It is still saying the drive is dirty, and still needs to be checked. I did a defrag and a disk cleanup, and suggestions?

Repair Disk Won't Boot with Non-System Disk or Disk Error

    Hi Rocky,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

For us to isolate the issue and provide you the appropriate assistance, we’d like to ask you a few questions.

    1. Have you tried changing the booting priority and checked?
    2. Are you trying to reinstall Windows?

We can try a few steps and check if it helps.

    1. Check if HDD is at the top of the boot order.
    2. Check if the cable connected from the HDD to motherboard is connected properly.
    3. Unplug all media devices restart the system and check.

I’d suggest you to create a recovery drive on a USB and check. You’ll need a USB drive that’s at least 16 gigabytes. Refer this article on

    Create a recovery drive
to create a recovery drive in Windows 10.

We also recommend you to check this article on
    Recovery options in Windows 10
and check if it helps. Refer the suggestions showing under the
To restore or reset using the recovery drive section.
