Windows does not boot, black screen with cursor after trying to add new ssd.

My old SSD that has my OS was starting to fail so I wanted to upgrade to a larger one. When I plugged in the new SSD the pc screen went black with just the cursor and now fails to boot. I have tried every solution under the sun, Ctrl-Alt-Delete and other hotkeys do nothing the screen stays black. When I boot into safe mode none of the options worked either. Startup repair, uninstall updates, even reset pc results in an error. I tried sfc /scannow and it says my disk is write protected. Dism also gives different errors. At this point I cant keep track of everything I've tried. I CANNOT fully in

  2. Windows black screen with cursor

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-black-screen-with-cursor/5dc3ad10-7320-4776-ad8f-17af5e6b7968

    I
have tried following the steps of booting into safe mode, going into the control panel and uninstalling the latest windows update that caused the 'Windows black screen with cursor' error. However, now it wont even boot to the desktop, it will show 'Automatic repairs being done' and then automatically booting to safe mode. Upon checking my BIOS, the SSD drive with windows installed with it, is not even showing up in the boot list/priority. (still able to see drive in bios under System status and when checking under windows installation time.)

Black screen after 'Starting Windows' sequence

Sounds like the old... windows black screen of death.

Try this quoted from "VisiHow" article "Repair Windows 7 Black Screen of Death":

They, also, have some other options there, too.
Google search and you will find a lot of the "Windows Black Screen of Death with cursor" fixes.
