Windows 10: Windows does not recognize USB

Spent my day as usual when suddenly my headset just stopped delivering sound. I unplugged and replugged it again, only to be met with a "USB not recognized" message from windows. Coincidentally, the same happened to my mouse which was in a different usb port. It stopped working, replugged, same message. The laptop only has 2 usb ports, so I switched the usb over to the other port, but unfortunately it's the same. I haven't tried to restart the laptop yet, but will proceed to do so after I send this question. The mouse in question is a Razer Orochi V2, and I've only had it for a year. How do

Some USB Devices not recognized in Windows 10

Hi have Windows 10 Pro insider preview 10532 64bit Pro Intel i7 desktop PC.

I have multiple USB devices connected, USB 3 & 2. The USB HDD is working however my Samsung phone and kindle are no longer being recognized. The steps followed so far:

• Uninstalled all USB devices in device manager including controllers
• Flashed BIOS to latest version
• Updated USB drivers for the devices from manufacturers sites
• Tried new USB cables

Please note: both devices are recognized by my Windows 10 Lenovo laptop.

I really don't want to fresh install, please suggest any diagnostics I can try.

You may receive this error if one of your USB connected devices is not properly recognized by the system. Let's try the troubleshooting steps provided by
Krishna Prasobh V on this
thread.

In addition, we suggest that you turn off the notifications from the USB by following these steps:

• Open Settings by typing "settings" in Cortana's search box.
• Click on Devices.
• Locate USB and toggle the switch to Off.

I understand that you get an error, ‘USB device not recognized’ when connecting a USB drive. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.



However, please let us know:

• May I know the update that was installed? To check go to
  Start >> Settings >> Update & Security >> Windows Update >> View update history.
  
• Does the issue occur with only one USB drive?
  
• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? Refer
  Which version of Windows operating system am I running?
  

I would suggest you to try plugging the USB to a different USB port and check if that helps. You can also try connecting the USB to a different computer and check.



Meanwhile, I would suggest you to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article
Error: “USB Device not recognized" when you try to access
a USB external hard drive except Method 1 & 2 and see if that makes any difference.
