Windows 10: Windows doesn't recognize Xbox Wireless Adapter drivers downloaded from the update...

So I bought this cheap adapter to use my xbox controller to play MW2019 on my PC, and it refuses to light up when holding the button, so I go to Device Manager and see "XBOX ACC" is having trouble because it didn't automatically install the drivers when I plugged it in. So after some googling I went to catalog.update.microsoft.com and searched "Xbox Wireless Adapter" as numerous searches and even the guide that came with my adapter suggested, downloaded several .cab files that match, or are close in description to the drivers I need just in case. Then I right-clicked "XBOX ACC", clicked "Update Driver" > "Browse my computer for drivers" > "Browse.." and then directed it to the Downloads folder my Chrome downloads go to on my desktop, made sure "Include subfolders" was checked, and clicked "Next".

If you know the manufacturer of your device you can visit their website and check the support section for downloadable drivers

I even tried searching from This PC to see if it would find the drivers elsewhere, but I got the same damn thing. It's like windows just...doesn't see the damn drivers. What am I doing wrong? I can't even find a Cipon website to look for support like it suggests.

Any tips? I'm lost

Xbox wireless adapter not recognized in device manager

Hi,

I suggest you follow the below instructions to resolve the issue.

1. Run the hardware troubleshooter to see if there are any hardware issues and automatic fix
   • Open command prompt with administrative privileges
   • Type msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic and then press enter
   • On the Hardware troubleshooter wizard click Next
   • Restart PC if there are no issues found and verify
2. If the above has not fixed the issue then uninstall the unknown USB device by following the instructions below and install it again.
   
   • Go to your Device Manager.
   • Locate unknown USB device.
   • Right click on unknown USB deviceto bring up the Properties window.
   • Click on the Driver tab.
   • On the Driver tab, click the Uninstall button.
   • On the confirmation window, check Delete the driver software for this device.
   • Unplug the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows and reboot your Windows 10 device. Once the device is back on, plug in the adapter.
   • Verify now if the Xbox Wireless Adapter is recognized and drivers are installed or not

I understand that some steps ae done to try to resolve this issue and that you have tried downloading the drivers from the Microsoft Update Catalog. For us to help you in resolving this issue, may we ask you to do the following?

• Unplug the XBOX cable from the computer.
• Restart your computer.
• Plug in the XBOX cable and check if it will try to install the adapter.

If the above step won't work, I suggest you to follow the suggestions by
Andre Da Costa in below article and check if it resolves the issue.
