  4. Windows doesnt respond

Hello Dexterator Welcome to the Ten Forums!

The first question I have for you here would be was this a recent upgrade install? If so like it sounds to be the upgrade didn't come out so good and is now revealing the buggy side! On two separate desktops as well as a laptop upgraded during the summer months when 10 was first out the Start button was missing on the laptop and the AllApps could not be opened. The solution? A full fresh clean install since 10 had already been expected was already counted on seeing!

The clean install that followed the upgrade saw everything working as it should! The first desktop was also "Buggy" until a second Upgrade to Repair type install was seen during the first week 10 was out and then replaced by a clean install the following week and since saw the November update upgrade over the 10240 July release build with the Threshold 2 10586 build now seen.

Likewise you should consider the likelihood that a clean install will be necessary there as well. Often during upgrade installs things needed by Windows never seem to go on fully explaining why a high percentage of upgrades tend to fail or show signs after a short period of time the upgrade needs to be replaced. Unfortunately by the description you have provided this would seem to be a need there.

  5. No i didnt do any update. It showed 2 day ago. I noticed that the CPU light stops blinking after this happens. I also noticed that i can turn on msuic, word or any other very small apps. If I turn on chrome or a game... thats it.

  6. The question about upgrade was asked in case the laptop you have didn't come with 10 installed on it. In the case where Windows 7, 8, or likely 8.1 came with the laptop then you would have seen an upgrade install by way of the Windows updates to 10? Or did you decide to try 10 out on your own?

The question pertains to how long 10 has been on the laptop in order to determine what type of problem you are having. It might not even be a Windows 10 problem but the laptop's hard drive stuffing up on you! On a 3yr. now 3 1/2yr. old HP laptop that saw 7 upgraded to 10 everything was going well until just the other day when the drive quit! Hard drives in laptops other then SSDs do tend to be fragile and wear faster then those seen in desktops.

It sounds like either the upgrade you saw went buggy on you or the hard drive may either be seeing disk errors or worn! These are the things you will need to look at by the description you posted. The day the drive failed I had just run the laptop I had to bring back with me since it was also still running the 10240 build released back in July in order to see the November 11th Threshold 2 Update being the second major general release for 10 namely the 10586 version 1511 build while another Insider Preview build came out a few weeks ago the present download you would see would be the TH2 5.48gb "Windows.iso" file when saved to disk. An 8gb or 16gb usb flash drive is recommended since the updated release is a combination Home/Pro, 32bit/64bit download that will automatically detect the Home or Pro, 32bit or 64bit install you already have on and replace that according when upgrading the July release to the 11/11 Update.

The 10240 upgrades were buggy for many to start with and since 10 was already activated the better move now would be seeing a nice clean install with the updated build! If the drive is at fault however the Disk Check tool as well as running the Systtem File Checker and looking over what problems you have more recently added are a few things that might help as well. With a right click on the hard drive itself in File Explorer you open the Tools tab on the properties screen and go to the "Error checking" option to click on the Disk Check tool there or open up a Command prompt(admin) with a right click on the Start button to type in chkdsk /r/f at the command prompt there and answer Y for yes to schedule the run of the tool to scan for disk errors with the repair switches. At the same command prompt you can also type in "sfc /scannow" to start up the System File Checker that will seek out any missing or damaged system files which it may prompt for the 10 media which you may or may not have seen made up initially back in July.

Now those are the first and last ditch type options you can try before contemplating the fresh install of 10 or being prepared in case the drive itself is on the way out? That can't be ruled out with a laptop that's seen regular use for over a year now. The laptop here hardly saw much use after the owner's son borrowed it several times and then got his own and suddenly now when it after 3yrs. is seeing more frequent use the drive fails. I have to point out the worst as well as the quick and easily and everything in between just in case of the worst.

Sometimes when a graphics driver update is seen if not another device driver update the install goes sideways being another possible cause. That or some recently new startup for a new program you added are another pair of possible causes to consider. Nothing is ruled out completely at this point while the msconfig utility still comes in handy even with 10! Reducing a few startups as well as giving those two tools a run each might be a big help.
