Windows 10: Windows Drive Optimization function displays 2 Drives Windows C: and System Why.?

When I right click on Windows C: drive and select Optimize 2 drives are displayed : Windows c: System I'm not sure how System Drive appeared. what is it purpose and can it be removed?Thank you

Optimize Drives doesnt work

If Optimize drives doesn't work, as first thing, check your file system:

1. Type "cmd" in windows search bar

2. Right click on "Command Prompt"

3. Select "Run as Administrator"

4. Type "sfc /scannow" without quote and press ENTER

Let me know the result.

Also, can you tell me if you are blocked on a step of this list, when you try to optimize your drives?

1. Open "File Explorer"

2. Click on "This PC"

3. Right click on "C:"

4. Click on "Proprieties"

5. Click on "Tools"

6. Click on "Optimize"

7. Click on "C:"

8. Click on "Defragment disk"

 

Optime Drive - Doesn't Recognize External Hard Drive

When I Select "Defragment and Optimize Drives" my external USB 3.0 hard drive is not among the drives listed that can be analyzed or optimized. The reply to another similar post suggested reading and following the recommendations in a separate
article "Optimize Windows for better performance" which I did but found no useful information there. Any other suggestions
or alternatives?

 

(E drive doesn't optimize

Windows 10, desktop PC. Still repairing since last Windows 10 update. Am now in the Optimize Drives window. There are 2 lines. The first is (C Hard disc drive OK (0% fragmented). The second is System Reserved (E Hard disc drive Needs optimization (100%
fragmented). When I click on the (E line, it hilites in blue. When I click Optimize the line flashes like its going to start optimizing but reverts to it's original state, Needs optimization (100% fragmented) and is now hilited light gray, all in about half
a second. Is my system doing what it is sposed to do? Is (E drive (100% fragmented) normal? Is (E drive (100% fragmented) OK and that's why it doesn't optimize? All suggestions, ideas, comments any wish to offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, K.
