    Windows DVD Player Skipping


    I was watching a DVD using the Windows DVD Player, and the movie kept skipping. I thought it was a damaged DVD that Netflix sent me, so I sent the DVD back for a replacement.

    When I received the replacement today, it was also skipping. Then it occurred to me that the problem does not originate from the DVD, but from the DVD player.

    I played the same DVD that was skipping with VLC Media Player, and the skipping was gone.

    Has anyone else noticed this skipping problem with Windows DVD Player? Is it a driver issue? VLC Media Player is more versatile anyway, so I am glad that I have that alternative player installed.

    Windows 10 - cd/dvd player will not work

    I believe she was referring to the new Windows DVD Player for Windows 10, not Windows Media Player. I'm having a bit of trouble with it as well. IT KIND OF SUCKS!!! Jerky video, skips and stops... and I'm having trouble with other players recognizing that
    a video is in the drive. IT'S NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE!!

    Download VLC for free to play video dvds. A paid program is better--such as CyberLink Power DVD that is included with new dell computers. (Skip the $14.99 MS player unless you can get it free--it is mostly for selling you movies and is not recommended by
    most users) Microsoft is the one who dropped dvd player/burning of videos-- not Dell. DVD players are not even included on new laptops now. Streaming online video is the norm. See--

    Windows DVD Player Skipping

    Yes, I'm experiencing exactly the same problem.

    Some of my older DVDs that struggle to play on VLC, work just fine in Windows DVD Player, however, the constant skipping, pausing, then fast forwarding to catch up, is irritating.

    It even occurs with brand new dvd's, so I know the problem is caused by a fault with Windows DVD Player.
