Windows 10: Windows explorer crash in windows 11 23h2

I have Windows 11 23h2 build 22631.2715 and some recent updates, my file explorer crashes completely when trying to open any folder/disk drive. I've already done sfc scannow, command prompt, cleaning cache folders, updated nvidia video driver. Nothing solves it just by formatting and putting 23h2 again, but days later news updates it happened again. Searching I saw that build 23590 DEV solves problems with the explorer. Are there any predictions for the user? Or any workaround?Every day when I turn on my PC I can no longer use any folder.

Good news!

Problem seems to be fixed by 2023-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5032190) update released 11/14 that I installed on 11/15. In the Knowledge Base notes is the following under File Explorer:

• This update addresses an issue that stops File Explorer from opening.
  

It worked for me, no longer have any problems, no need to re-install (somehow I couldn't roll back 23H2 update and had no recovery point before that time).

 

Windows explorer crashing

I am having the same problem as the OP in this thread.
Windows Explorer crashes whenever I open my external HDD or thumb drive in explorer..

I have tried the fixes listed in the above thread and I am getting the same error message as 'ktadie' (post 16). I think this is because I am running Windows 7 Professional. Windows explorer crashes when I open my 'Films' folder on my brand new 2tb external HDD. I have about 300 .avi files in this folder and some of the .avi files are several years old.

In short I believe I need the same fix given by 'Wile E' (post 7) but updated for Windows 7 Professional.

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
