Windows 10: Windows Explorer crashes, taskbar disappears momentarily - while trying to paste files...

This is a recent issue with my Windows 11 PC. Any time I try to copy and paste files or folders, windows explorer closes itself. Additionally, the taskbar will disappear for a couple seconds, then reappear. The issue also happens when I right click and "send to" a different location. I was having a similar Windows issue, but just performed a clean repair upgrade of Windows 11 and that seemed to fix the issue - until this popped up now today. windows 10 file explorer opens for a split second then crashes

This problem occurs if I try opening any folder or file explorer itself for example:

• an existing file folder with files in it that is on my desktop,
• opening the file explorer from the taskbar (I have since unpinned it as this was suggested as a fix in some forums)
• opening file explorer using the start menu
• opening file explorer using the windows key + E

In each case the explorer dialogue box will pop up momentarily then disappear again (perhaps a second or 2 sometimes, other times just a flash.)

So far I have tried:

• ensuring that windows 10 is totally up to date
• run the sfc scannow - this came up with no error found
• made sure that the settings for file explorer were set to opening at 'this pc'

I am absolutely out of ideas. Can someone please help?

 

File Explorer Crash

I was copying/cutting a file in folder by right-clicking. Windows Explorer froze a moment and then Taskbar icons disappeared momentarily and reappeared. I try use Ctrl + C/X and Ctrl + V, fortunately it worked.

Meanwhile, we suggest that restart the Windows Explorer.exe to refresh your taskbar functionality by following the steps below:

• Open Task Manager
  by right clicking the taskbar.
• Click More details at the bottom to expand the Task Manager window.
• Under the Processes tab, look for Windows Explorer.
• After selecting the Windows Explorer, click the Restart
  button at the bottom.
• It may take a few seconds and things like your taskbar and Start menu may disappear momentarily, but when it restarts, things should behave better and you can exit Task Manager.
