Windows 10: Windows explorer crashes when I click on any zip file.

Recently Windows explorer crashes when I click on any zip file I tried- updating windows -opening Command Prompt as Administrator then Running sfc /scannow- installing a different zip application, same result.- Ran Windows full system scanFaulting application name: explorer.exe, version: 10.0.22621.2428, time stamp: 0xaab5a73eFaulting module name: BIB.dll_unloaded, version: 1.2.1.1551, time stamp: 0x4845e497Exception code: 0xc0000005Fault offset: 0x000000000000b0a0Faulting process ID:

.zip can't be set to File Explorer

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• 
  Type Default programs
  in the search bar and press enter
  
• 
  Click on choose default programs by file type
  
• 
  Select .zip
  and select File Explorer

Windows explorer crashing

Hi,

I am having the same problem as the OP in this thread.
Windows Explorer crashes whenever I open my external HDD or thumb drive in explorer..

I have tried the fixes listed in the above thread and I am getting the same error message as 'ktadie' (post 16). I think this is because I am running Windows 7 Professional. Windows explorer crashes when I open my 'Films' folder on my brand new 2tb external HDD. I have about 300 .avi files in this folder and some of the .avi files are several years old.

In short I believe I need the same fix given by 'Wile E' (post 7) but updated for Windows 7 Professional.

Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?
