Windows 10: Windows explorer crashing - started happening new - other errors what are they

Here are the following errors on my system Windows 10 Pro-winver - 21H2 - OS build 19044.2130 - windows update current. in event viewerThe program explorer.exe version 10.0.19041.2075 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. Windows explorer crashing

Hi,

I am having the same problem as the OP in this thread.
Windows Explorer crashes whenever I open my external HDD or thumb drive in explorer..

I have tried the fixes listed in the above thread and I am getting the same error message as 'ktadie' (post 16). I think this is because I am running Windows 7 Professional. Windows explorer crashes when I open my 'Films' folder on my brand new 2tb external HDD. I have about 300 .avi files in this folder and some of the .avi files are several years old.

In short I believe I need the same fix given by 'Wile E' (post 7) but updated for Windows 7 Professional.

Windows Explorer Crash

Alrighty, y'all - got an odd issue I'm having trouble pinning down.

Background - couple of weeks ago, I took my rig over a friends house while I was house-sitting their "zoo" . . . no issues with the rig there.

After getting it back home, I've been experiencing strange WIN Explorer crashes. Usually spits out explorer.exe and drwtsn32.exe as "have caused an error and needs to close" . . . sometimes, to re-enable explorer, I have to manually kill the drwtsn32 process to "finish" the crash.

Crash typically occurs if I have win explorer open . . . no telling when specifically, sometimes immediately, sometimes it'll go 15+ min . . . sometimes during file copying, sometimes while idle. I've also experienced the crash when in IE, although this is rare . . . when it occurs it takes down IE with it.

First off, did the most logical thing and checked all hardware and connections - everything is nice and tight, good to go . . . still having issues.

no hardware drivers or new software has been installed prior to these issues.

ran memtest - came back fine.

ran scandisk - no bad sectors on the HDD.

ran defrag - .6% fragmented (which seemed OK considering I haven't defragged the HDD in a month).

ran registryfix . . . came back with 1100 registry errors *Twitch :twitch:

I had it fix those reg issues, and everything seemed fine for 2 days - then it started happening again. I immediately opened registryfix and it reported 65 errors, let it do it's work and everything was OK for another day . . . now I'm again getting random explorer crashes . . . although no registry issues now.

The crash almost always reports ntldl.dll . . . but I don't think that's directly causing the issue as this started up after transporting the rig . . .



any thoughts?

I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?
