Windows 10: Windows Explorer.exe closed down

What the #### is going on with Windows 10???

First, a problem appeared whereby at random times my dialogue boxes would be rendered unreadable by black lines. This situation suddenly appeared, and despite much help from Dalchina and the lovely people on this forum, persisted through many resets/reinstalls etc. until, just as miraculously, it stopped and (touching lots of wood) hasn't returned for a week or two.

This problem was swiftly replaced by an equally randomly occuring event where File Explorer would take ages to open anything ("working on it") at all, and, after eventually finding the drive/file requested, would crash when asked to open/move/save/save as that item.

That seems to have worked its way out to be replaced by the latest problem.

Again, really randomly, File Explorer will suddenly crash, give a "white screen" for a couple of seconds, then close down altogether. Looking at Event Viewer I can see an Admin Error that says:

I don't understand what I am looking at in this log (or where to look next) but if anyone can explain/help I would be most grateful.

The cynic in me is wondering if there is a group of "experts" at Microsoft who have created a menu of problems that they are releasing, one at a time, to see how upset and angry we, their customers, get!!!

Windows10: how to close win taskbar

Dear Andre.

I might also take into consideration about closing explorer.exe but I need to launch an application downloaded from the Windows AppStore (for example this: https://www.microsoft.com/it-it/store/p/pressreader/9wzdncrfj13b )

In order to launch this application, I run a BAT file containing this line:

C:\Windows\explorer.exe shell:AppsFolder\NewspaperDirect.PressReader_f09x14bt6ejbt!App

If I close explorer.exe this command does NOT work anymore and I cannot launch this application anymore.

If the ONLY solution to close the taskbar is closing explorer.exe, is there another way to launch a Windows app which will work?

I've already tried some software to hide the taskbar similar to the one you suggested to me but they do not works very well. Often, when a full screen application is closed, the taskbar popup again..

Thank you for the update, Pedro. Since uninstalling Google Drive didn't help, let's try to troubleshoot the issue by restarting Explorer.exe in Task Manager.

Explorer.exe is a program manager process that provides the graphical interface you use to interact with most of Windows — the Start menu, File Explorer, taskbar, and notification area. If any of these pieces that make up the Windows graphical shell starts
acting strangely, try to close and restart Windows Explorer just like when you close and restart an app that’s acting up.

To restart Explorer.exe, right-click on the Start button and select
Task Manager. Click on More details > Processes. Scroll down the list of what’s running and find
Windows Explorer. Select Windows Explorer and then click the
Restart button.
