Windows 10: Windows explorer extension change warning

I'd like to bring this to Microsoft's attention once again.Whenever one changes a file's extension we're greeted with a prompt warning us that "changing file extensions may cause the file to become unusable"Not only is this information plainly false, at worst it means Windows doesn't know what programme to open the file with, there is also no way to disable it.The earliest request I could find for allowing us to disable this "feature" dates all the way back to March of 2010.Results for the question on how to disable it are full of hacky solutions including but not limited to AHK scripts and ou

Disable warning when changing the file extension

Nope, its baked into Explorer and can't be disabled.

If its bothersome, you can do file renaming in Command Prompt or PowerShell, or you can download an Explorer replacement. I use Explorer++ so I can run it as a different user than the user I'm logged in with, it doesn't warn when changing extensions.

my jpegs. open with paint. Is that normal? It was a photo and opened in paint.

I want to see the page of all the file extensions to see what they are opening.

Somehow my friend has changed her DIP program to opening with pngs and thy won't open at all. she needs to change them back to what they were. I have looked online anf found nothing that helps...too complicated.

Could I please get a step by step 1, 2, 3 etc list to help her change her program extension to the right one.

are you running IE7? if not that wouold be my first suggestion,upgrade to ie7 that can fix some stability issues with windows explorer
