    Windows Explorer Freezes when external hdd is conncected and cant select ext hdd...


    I have an external hdd which i use for storing diffrent data, just today i tried to archive a folder from external hard disk using winrar, but it failed and gave some error, since then whenever i try to plug in the ext hdd and goes to windows explorer aka "My pc" windows explorer keeps loading and after some time it shows the external hdd drive letters but dont shows the storage capacity or drive name that i set for it and as soon as i unplug the ext hdd everything works fine, also whenever i try to open disk managment when ext hdd is connected it also hangs until the ext hdd is unpluged... Pl

    External HDD/USB.

    Hello.

    I have an external HDD docking station connected to my PC thru USB.

    Devine manager sees it. But Windows explorer does not.

    Suggestions?

    Hi Elise,

    Thank you for helping me out.

    Device manager sees the external hdd and reports it is working normally.

    But, when i go windows explorer it does not read.

    That hdd contains w vista and i am trying to save and archive older files.

    What do you suggest?
