Windows 10: Windows Explorer freezing and reloading itself?

On my one computer (HP Pro 3500: Windows 10 Pro, i5-3470, 8 gigs of RAM, 128 gig SSD and 500 gig hard drive), the taskbar will randomly disappear, and the mouse cursor will turn into the blue loading ring. Upon a key press, Windows Explorer will reload itself.

What would be the first thing to check? RAM? Drives? A windows setting?

Also yes, I have tried restarting the computer.

Windows Explorer Replacement?

are you running IE7? if not that wouold be my first suggestion,upgrade to ie7 that can fix some stability issues with windows explorer

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Windows Explorer freeze
