    Windows Explorer Frequent Folders and Recent Files


    4-6 weeks ago, folders listed in Quick Access / Frequent Folders disappeared, leaving only Desktop, Downloads, Documents and Folders. All Quick Access / Recent Files disappeared entirely.


    I suspect an automatic update is the culprit. I have searched high and low for a solution, without success. Can anyone help me resolve the issue?

    Windows 10 Tweaks

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Windows Explorer Frequent Folders and Recent Files

    File Explorer in Win 10 taskbar not showing Recent folders

    When I right-click Word or Excel in my Windows 10 taskbar, a list of recent folders appears. But when I right-click File Explorer, only Pinned and Frequent folders appear. Neither of these is as useful to me as the Recent folders. Any suggestions on how
    I can get Recent folders to appear?
