Windows 10: Windows Explorer hangs om opening

Why does my Windows explored app hang when opening? It doesn't operate at all despite a 'working on it' message. can it be fixed?

• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

are you running IE7? if not that wouold be my first suggestion,upgrade to ie7 that can fix some stability issues with windows explorer

  Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc and locate for

  On top of the Task Manager click on File and click on
  Run new task.
  
• Type explorer.exe inside the box and hit Enter.
