Windows 10: Windows Explorer Hangs When Attempting To Open The Downloads Folder In Quick Access

Windows 10, Version 10.0.19042 Build 19042Today, File Explorer hangs when I attempt access the Downloads folder listed under Quick Access. I just receive a spinning hourglass. It worked flawlessly until today. It still works with any other folders even others in Quick Access. I can access the Downloads folder by navigating directly to it Users/{username}/Downloads.I removed Downloads from Quick Access and then added it back in with the same results. The File Explorer continues to hang if I attempt to look at the files. Other applications have no difficulty seeing and accessing the files in the

Quick Access is a new feature in Windows 10 File Explorer navigation pane which helps users quickly navigate to locations which are frequently used. However, if you're having issues with Quick Access, you can try to disable and enable it. To disable Quick
Access, follow these steps:

• Type File Explorer Option in the search box.
• Click on File Explorer Options.
• Under General tab, choose This PC in the Open File Explorer to: drop down menu.
  
• Uncheck Show recently used files in Quick access and
  Show frequently use folders in Quick access.
• Click Apply an OK.
• Restart the computer and re-enable Quick access.

Cannot unping wrong Download Folder from Quick Access

To unpin the download folder from Quick access.

• Right click on download folder.
• Select unpin from Quick access.

To unpin the download folder from Quick access.

• Right click on download folder.
• Select pin from Quick access.

If the issue still persist, I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

Method 1:

• Press the Windows logo key + E key, to open File Explorer.
• Click on View tab.
• Click on Options button, located in top right corner of the window.
• Select the General tab.
• Click on Restore to default button.
• Click OK.
