  2. USB-c Connection to Monitor will not work on HP Spectre x360

    Hi Justin Ross2,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

It sounds like you've performed a thorough set of troubleshooting steps to address the issue with connecting your new monitors to your HP Spectre x360 via USB-C. Based on the information provided, it seems that the USB-C connection is recognizing the display but is encountering issues when attempting to configure the display settings.

Here are a few additional suggestions and considerations to help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Check USB-C Port Functionality: It's possible that the USB-C port on your laptop may not be fully compatible with the display or may have limited power output. Try connecting another USB-C device (such as a smartphone or external drive) to the same port to see if it functions properly. If it does not, there may be an issue with the USB-C port itself.
    2. Try a Different USB-C Cable: Sometimes, the issue can be related to the USB-C cable. Try using a different USB-C to DisplayPort cable to connect the monitor and see if that resolves the issue. Additionally, ensure that the cable supports the necessary specifications for video output.
    3. USB-C Alternate Mode: Some USB-C ports support "alternate modes" for video output. Check the specifications for your laptop to confirm if the USB-C port supports video output and if it requires any specific configurations or settings to enable this feature.
    4. Update Monitor Firmware: Visit the ASUS website to check for any available firmware updates for your ASUS PA279CV monitor. Firmware updates can often address compatibility and functionality issues with different devices.ASUS USA

    5. Contact Manufacturer Support: Consider reaching out to HP support to inquire specifically about the USB-C port capabilities and potential limitations. They may be able to provide more detailed information or additional troubleshooting steps based on the specific model of your laptop.Official HP® Laptop & Desktop Computer Support

    6. External Docking Station: If USB-C direct connection continues to pose challenges, consider using a USB-C docking station with multiple display outputs to connect your monitors. This can help bypass any potential issues with the laptop's USB-C port and provide additional connectivity options.
    7. Testing with Another Laptop: If possible, try connecting the ASUS PA279CV monitor to another laptop or device that supports USB-C video output to verify if the monitor is functioning correctly with a different source.
Given the comprehensive nature of the troubleshooting steps you've already taken, it seems that the issue may lie in the specific compatibility or configuration of the USB-C video output. Exploring alternative connection methods or seeking further guidance from HP support may help in resolving the issue.

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Windows Explorer crashes whenever I open my external HDD or thumb drive in explorer..

So, I open up My Computer, open my F Drive and boom: "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and must close". It is really annoying! I am fine everywhere else in explorer, but something just screws up when I try the external HDD (USB) or my thumb drive.

    Can anyone help?
