    Windows Explorer keeps hanging and copy paste stops working


    From the time when I updated to Windows 11 a few month ago, I have been having this weird problem with the most basic features of Windows. The symptoms are as mentioned below and I believe they are all inter-connected.- The time in my taskbar gets stuck. It will keep showing the same hours and minutes for hours.- Copy and paste stops working. I cannot even copy plain text and paste it somewhere else.- Sometimes I am not even able to click on the icons on my taskbarAll these problems mostly go away when I restart Explorer.exe But sometimes even that doesn't work.     Windows Explorer Copy and Paste problems

    Hi,

    The copy/paste problem could be due to Windows Explorer issue or faulty keyboard.

    Wewould like to know some information to better isolate the problem:

    • Is the issue also happening when trying to copy/paste any Office files, or is it only happening in Windows Explorer?
    • Have you tried other ways like; right-click + Copy, then right-click + Paste?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

    Explorer Cut/copy/Paste stops working after Explorer running a while

    Hi, odd problems with file explorer can be caused by file explorer add-ons- shell extensions. Consider disabling all 3rd party shell extensions (context menu entries) using e.g. Shellexview (free) for starters and see if you still have the problem. If you do, Autoruns (free) may reveal more. Use both cautiously and ensure you don't disable MS shell extensions. (Both programs can mark or hide these). Are you using a clipboard manager of any kind? There are plenty of results for a search such as cut and paste not working windows copy and paste not working windows copy and paste not working file explorer for example. Some appear to be partly obsolete. There is a clipboard-related service:

    Copy and paste stops working in Win 10

    Hi.

    When using cut/copy/paste and drag and drop in Windows File Explorer (Win 10), this occasionally stops working. The paste option is greyed out and I need to open a new Explorer window to reactive the copy/paste functionality.

    Any ideas what is causing this and how to fix it?
