Windows 10: Windows Explorer menu peek upward instead peek downward.

I really want to ask Microsoft, about how do they "recreate" or what ever you said as update for "better" use.Which Microsoft [CENCORED] create this kind of update, and wrote that the update focus on Windows Explorer usability?Can anyone explain in what ways Windows Explorer is more useable, more robust, What I see is more fix = more trouble?Let me make a guess this is the reply that I will receive from some smart Alex:- Please use SFC / Scannow and restart your PC see if the problem persist. Aero Peek is not Working

I cannot see the Aero Peek. In my Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window, under Preview desktop with Aero Peek, the box next to Use Aero Peek to preview the desktop is checked but is grayed out. Please help.

 

Failed to disable Peek Preview in Windows 11

Hi, everyone!

To implement some custom fetatures I need to disable peek preview for the window. So I call DwmSetWindowAttribute with DWMWA_DISALLOW_PEEK set to True to disallow peek preview. It works well in Win7 and Win10 but in my newest Win11 machine, it sill shows peek preview when the mouse hovers over the window's thumbnail in the taskbar.

And I use a demo from VS2019 to reproduce this bug and still it works well in Window 7 and Window 10, but not in Windows 11.

I also read the SDK document and I don't find changes relevant to this behavior. Do I misuse this interface? If you know the right way to disable it, let me know plz~~

Steps to reproduce the bug

1. Open Visual Studio 2019 and New C++ Desktop Project.
   
2. With a built-in demo, disable peek preview with DwmSetWindowAttribute
   

1. Add link dependency dwmapi.lib
   
2. Compile and Run
   
3. Window shows but it still shows peek preview.
   

Expected behavior

No peek preview in Windows 11 22000.829

 

Taskbar Aero-Peek doesn't work with more than one window

Hi Alex,

Double check if Aero Peek is enabled:

• Click Start Menu
• In the search box, type in performance
• Select Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows.
• Under the Visual Effects Tab, make sure the following are checked:

• Enable Aero Peek
• Enable desktop composition
• Use visual styles on windows and buttons

5. Click OK.

If that didn't work, run the Aero Troubleshooter.

• Click Start Menu
• Type in troubleshooting
• Press Enter
• Select Display Aero desktop effects
• Click Next.

Let the troubleshooter finish the process and it will restart the Aero Peek feature.
