Windows 10: windows explorer stays on top when opening pdf in Edge

windows explorer stays on top when opening pdf in Edge. I need to minimize it in order to work with the window behind it. Or I can just reset focus back to Edge. the focus changes / stays on Windows explorer when I open a pdf using Edge as the viewer. I have all current patches applied, and the problem only started recently. Perhaps an update caused it. I tried clean boot SFC DISM restorehealth Windows Files and folders trobleshooter This is really annoying it happens when I double click on pdf file to open in edge, and then not every time. curiously if I turn off vertical tabs in edge the pr

Step 1: Open PDF file in Adobe reader and check if you are facing similar issue.



To open PDF file directly from Adobe reader, follow the steps below:

• Open Adobe application and click on Edit.
• Click on Preferences and select Internet.
• Uncheck Display PDF in Browser option and check if you are able to open the PDF file without getting the error code.

Step 2: If you are able to open PDF file in Adobe reader, I suggest you to
Turn off Internet Explorer,
enable it again and check if the issue is resolved.

Hyperlinks in PDF's not working in Edge

Hi,

I suggest you to open the PDF files with Internet Explorer in Edge to view the hyperlinks and check if it helps.

Microsoft Edge has built-in Internet Explorer feature and thus changes made to the settings in Internet Explorer will reflect in Edge too. Follow below steps:

1. Open the PDF file with Edge and click on three dot icon (More Actions) on top right of the Edge browser.

2. Select the option 'Open with the Internet Explorer' from the drop down.

Navigating PDF viewer in Edge

I suggest you to follow the below given steps to print the page.

• Open the pdf file you want to print in Edge.
• Press Ctrl + P key to open print option.
• Select the Printer and desired page layout.
• Click on Print and check if it works.

To search any words in the Edge PDF viewer, press Ctrl + F and type the desired words in find box in left top corner of the browser and search.
