Windows 10: Windows Explorer stops responding freezes

I'm having this problem frequently -> when I'm opening a file, the Windows Explorer window freezes.When I close the window, this has the unfortunately side effect of closing ALL of the Windows Explorer windows I have open. This is a real drag when I'm at work. I basically lose all the open folders I was working with.I've tried all the typically recommended items:* Clear File Explorer history* Run System File Checker sfc /scannow* Enable Launch folder windows in a separate process* Disable Quick Access and File Preview features* Reset the file associationsIf anyone has something outside of

I think we can conclude the answer is ...yes...

If you have upgraded from 1903, just uninstall the 1909 enablement package (listed as a Windows update) to go back to 1903.

You have Pro so can take control by setting upgrades to be deferred for 365 days, and updates to 'Notify' in group policy.

 

System Stopped Responding aka Freezed

Thank you for your prompt response. Based on your answers, there are possibility that some components of the game are corrupted. If your game is freezing or not responding, uninstalling and reinstalling it will remove and replace the files that run the game.

Here are the steps on how to uninstall and reinstall your game:

• Press the Windows key on your keyboard.
• Select All apps, and then find your game in the list.
• Right-click the game tile, and then select Uninstall.
• Follow the steps to uninstall the game.
• To reinstall your game, open Windows Store app, and then select the profile button.
• Select My Library.
• Locate the game in the list of available downloads, and then select the download icon to the right.

We also suggest that you restart your computer to normal startup to disable unnecessary apps that run in the background of your computer while you are using it. Here's how:

• Press Windows + R on the keyboard.
• Type msconfig, and then click
  OK.
• On the General tab, click the
  Normal Startup, and then click OK.
• When you are prompted to restart the computer, click
  Restart.

Windows Explorer Stops Responding on Certain Folder


Hello. Recently, I had two instances when Windows Explorer stopped responding when I tried to access a folder. The first time, it seemed to focus on two video files and when I deleted the files, the folder was fine. The next time, I could not access the folder. I could access my back up on the NAS drive, but Windows Explorer would stop responding when I tried to access the folder on my secondary hard drive on the computer. I deleted the folder and copied the folder from the NAS drive to the secondary drive, but it yielded the same problem. I renamed the folder and I am now able to access the folder.

Do these two instances suggest a problem with my hard drive or with my current state of Windows 10?
