  1. Windows Explorer takes 90 seconds to rename, move, or delete a file

I've had a long standing problem with my Windows 11 desktop with an SSD and 32 gig of RAM. It intermittently but often takes exactly 90 seconds to rename, move, or delete a file in Windows Explorer. There is no pattern to when this occurs. While waiting, other programs operate normally and no obvious resources are being used in the Resource Monitor. There are no delays in saving or opening files in other applications. Sometimes a new Windows Explorer instance simultaneously works without delays. Sometimes moving a set of files takes several minutes. This seems to be evidence of a locked resour

Microsoft Internet Explorer renamed to Windows Internet Explorer ?

Windows Explorer takes 90 seconds to rename, move, or delete a file wie1.png

Since version 7 of the world`s most popular web browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer was silently renamed to Windows Internet Explorer.Such a step from Microsoft is not a surprise since Internet Explorer is part of the Windows operation system for a long time.Obviously Microsoft corp. wants to state that Internet Explorer is already considered as a part of Windows and not as an external browser (remember the IE and WMP law issues last year!?).

Errors on creating, renaming, deleting folders in explorer

Thanks for that will get on it.

In meantime, the folder name, rename, delete issues and related error messages in part is just because windows explorer has suddenly started requiring a refresh for each step to show the new folder for renaming, then again after it has been renamed etc. So I have to keep hitting F5 for every step in the process including the moving of files from one folder to another. Is there a solution to that? That would be part of the probelm solved and I can then see if there are any remaining problems.

    Thanks

Tha bit has been solved by a restart of explorer. I will watch for any remaining issues and folow dalchina's advice should they still be present.

Windows Explorer takes 90 seconds to rename, move, or delete a file

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
