Windows 10: Windows Explorer won't allow the "Rating" tag to be set or displayed properly for .flac files.

I've begun to re rip all my CD's as .flac and to my surprise, I cannot edit the "Rating" tag. I have spent countless hours rating all my music. Even if I use 3rd party software to edit this tag, it does not display properly in Windows Explorer. It stays as blank. All other tags are editable and viewable.


Any help is appreciated so I can once again have my ratings for my newly ripped music collection. Thank You.

JesúsZarco: you should create a separate forum topic for the failing Windows Defender update. That's a different issue that shouldn't be discussed here.

Judging by your screenshot, the FLAC tags are fine now? I see that the Title and Album tags are being displayed by File Explorer. Rating (Classification) isn't, but that's probably just because the files don't have a rating set.

 

It is now April 2018 and Windows 10 explorer still does not appear to be able to save or show the Rating, Comments or Tags field for FLAC files

I want to save my music files in FLAC and windows 10 has declared native support for FLAC files since at least 2015. However if one right clicks on a FLAC file, chooses Properties and selects a star rating of, say 4, and clicks apply or OK; The rating
does not get displayed in explorer. It apparently doesn't get saved at all. Seems that Comments and Tags fields also do not save for FLACs.

My methods of organization and exporting music to USB drives depend on the rating settings in windows. I search using windows explorer based on Rating:=4 or 5 or whatever to select only music with high ratings to copy to my usb drives. This works well
with MP3 files but even years after native FLAC support was announced, you seemingly cannot even edit one of these windows file properties (Rating, Comments, Tags) for a FLAC file.

Is there any progress being made on this old issue that is splattered all over the interne t for years and years???

Please wait, yesterday all my FLAC tags display 100%, with some plug-in installed.



This morning my PC took 5 minutes to ready. and show some Windows new features are ready for use. But 30% for FLAC file tags like figure above disappear in Explorer. WMP seems been re-set, so some setting lose. Previous disabled
FLAC tags support automatic back with bug.
