Windows 10: Windows Failing to Login

Hello all,


I came home from class today and tried to boot up my computer which I never shut down, so that was weird and instead of bringing me to the normal login screen, a command prompt appeared asking me to log in that way instead. I understand that this means I have console login enabled, but it says there is an error when I try to log in, and I cannot access my settings in Windows to change it because of this.


I find this very strange because I was playing video games just fine last night, and today nothing seems to be working. I tried running the file checker and it says that it is unable to proceed after verification. I try to do the startup repair and it gives me a similar error. I have even tried resetting the PC and it says that it ran into an error. I have looked on every forum and tried every repair option I could and it has yielded no results.


I am in the process of downloading Windows 10 onto a USB via my roommate's laptop and repair it that way, but if that doesn't work, what else should I try to do?

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to select the appropriate language in login screen at the bottom right corner and check if it helps.

Steps 2: Use On-screen keyboard in the login screen to login and check if it helps.

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

I don't recall you mentioning any trouble shooting steps attempted though. At the very least, doing a quick search and checking threads like this very well may have solved it for you. It's listed as compatible on MS' list of games that work with W10 for a reason, because many if not most are able to get it running on W10. At least some level of workaround may be required, but some got it running without doing anything.
