Windows 10: Windows Fax and Scan crashes on outbound faxes only Windows Server 2019

Have an incoming modem and outgoing modem on Windows Server 2019. Fax service shuts down only when outgoing faxes happen. Changed hardware and same thing. Incoming is stable and stays up.

We understand your concern as you are trying to setup Windows Fax and scanner on a network.



When you say "it doesnt recognize my network name" do you get any error message and are you aware of any changes, prior to this issue.



In this scenario, make sure that you enable Windows Fax and scanner from Turn Windows feature on or off under Programs and Features. (Press
Windows + R key > type optionalfeatures.exe > expand
Print and Documents Services > check the box for Windows Fax and Scan)



Perform these steps to setup Windows Fax and Scan on your PC.

1. Click on Start menu/Search and type Windows Fax and Scan
   
2. Click on New Faxfrom top left corner and click on
   Connect to a fax server on my network.
   
3. Follow the onscreen steps.
   
4. Click on New Scanfrom top left corner and
   choose your preferred scan settings.

Note: Before you begin, make sure your computer is connected to the network and you know the network address of the fax server and also make sure that the scanner is connected to the PC.

Scan and Fax not working in Windows 10

Hi Sandy,

I realize the inconvenience you are experiencing with scanning and fax issues on Windows 10. I will certainly help you.

This issue might occur if printer driver is corrupt.

To assist you better, please provide us the information below:

• What is the make and model of the computer?
• Are you getting any error message?
• When you say that "scan and fax not working", how exactly are you trying to scan and fax on Windows 10?

If you have tried to use Windows Scan and Fax app, then try to access it and check if you are able to scan documents.

1. Click on Search bar.

2. The type "Windows Fax and Scan" without the quotes in the search bar and click on it.

3. Try to scan the copies of documents.

Fax machines work best if their driver was updated or their software was installed on your computer. To help us provide you a resolution, we'd like to ask you some questions:

• What is the exact make and model of your fax machine?
  

• Can you check the fax manufacturer's website for any latest driver updates?
• Can you check if there’s a pending incoming/outbound job queue on your fax machine?

• What were the recent changes made on your computer and scanner before you experienced this issue?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
• Can we get a screenshot of this error message?
  
• Have you already installed their respective software program that allows you to send fax documents?
• What type of documents are you going to send via fax? What are their file formats?
• What is the status of your Internet connection? You can test it here:

Step #2 – Enable Windows Fax and Scan feature. To do this, follow the steps below:

1. Press Windows + S to open
   Search Box. Type Control Panel and click it.
2. Click Programs, and then click Programs and Features.
3. Click Turn Windows features on or off.
4. In the Windows Features dialog box, under Print and Document Services, select the Windows Fax and Scan enable it in the check box.
5. Click OK to apply changes.
