Windows File Content Search Inside Multiple Specific Folders.

    Hi All,

I am finding a way to search inside my collection of folder for contents.

Currently this is simple when i have to search inside one folder regardless of 1000 files inside, i would go inside the folder and on the search bar do the following:

    content: "apple"

But when i have to search for "apple" in multiple specific folder, i can just type on the main folder and search, but this would take a long time among my 100 folders and 10,000+ files word files. However, i do know which specific folders the "apple" is located and if i know the 6 specific folder the "apple" content is located.

My question is, can i do ONE file content search for "apple" inside just 6 specific folder and searchwhile ignoring the other 94 folders and its content in order to reduce search time all at same time.

Also, i need to mention that this search will be done on a computer where i cant install 3rd party software or do Indexing due to admin rights. So i am hoping for a search string i can enter inside the search bar in windows file explorer.

    Thanks!

    :)

  2. Windows 10 search for a specific folder name and file name

Carlos: Thanks for your reply. What you suggest is what I have been doing. I search for folders with a specific name and get a list. Then I have to search each folder for a specific file. So it's a two step search and that's what I was trying to avoid.

I assume there are applications out there that allow for an "AND" search in Windows. I'll try that approach.

    Thanks, again.

    Search Content of MHT files

    Hi David,

Most probably, this is a problem with the search and indexing of your Windows 10 computer. For us to provide the best resolution possible, we would like to clarify the following:

    • Are you trying to search the content of MHT files using Cortana?
    • Have you tried searching it using the File Explorer?
    • Are you using a third-party app to search for the content of MHT files?

As an initial troubleshooting step, we suggest that you run the troubleshooter for search and indexing. To run the Search and Indexing troubleshooter, follow these steps:

    • Click the Start button and select the Settings
      icon.
    • Choose Update & Security from the list.
    • Click Troubleshoot in the left pane of the window.
    • Under Find and fix other problems.
    • Select Search and Indexing and click Run the troubleshooter.

We'll keep an eye out for your response.
