Windows 10: Windows file explorer not sorting correctly

Discus and support Windows file explorer not sorting correctly in Windows 10 Gaming to solve the problem; Win 8.1. in the downloads folder, I select sort by Modified date. I unzipped today a file.     Windows file explorer not sorting correctly


    Win 8.1. in the downloads folder, I select sort by Modified date. I unzipped today a file. The resultant unzipped file with today's modified date shows up sorted with files of a much earlier modified date ,

    Windows 10 File Explorer Numerical Sorting

    Windows 10 Pro - Version 1903

    Numerical sorting is turned on in group policy editor. Files are not sorting correctly. Decimal numbers are listed after whole numbers. Folders are sorting correctly. Number lists in Microsoft Office 2013 Word & Excel sort correctly. What could be causing this? Thanks.

    Sorting with File Explorer.

    I tried the method that was complicated (3rd option) but fell over in second step as I could not find any "apply to folder button"'.

    However, the simple put *.* in search bar, then sort results windows by date does the trick. It is slightly cumbersome as I have to do that each time I am selecting files (to upload to sharepoint) but a lot less hassle than I was having to scroll up and down between sorted file block and sorted folder block.
