Windows 10: Windows filled System memory instead of ssd drive

hello all,

setting up a new pc, and i just realized it had been saving all my programs and downloads to my C; drive, which seems to be the system one. its now basically full. how do i redirect or move my downloads, as well as games and applications, so that they're in my actual storage drive?

SSD keeps filling up

So i just did reinstall my windows operating system, through windows it self. And before i did it, the problem wasn't there.

And by slowly filling up, i mean that over time the SSD (or c drive) is being filled up with files. But when i look in the c drive, nothing has changed. And yes i have done so i can see all the hidden folders. Its a 120gb SSD and the windows installation
fills up around 30-40gbit, so the rest is free space. It is slowly filling up the ~80gb up over 4-5 hours. Then when i restart the pc is back to the ~80gb of free space and slowly fills up again.

 

consuption of C-drive 128GB SSD without proper usuage of the system

I have bought DELL INSPIRON 5577 laptop on 26 Jan 2018, I have used the system very rare and all my online chrome downloads are saved in drive-F even though , the C-drive is getting filled by itself .. at the starting I got 67GB of free space
in 104GB of 128GB SSD given by the manufacturer . I got my C-drive in 128GB ssd by default . when I opened that drive and checked the date of storage, I have observed no change in date of added file but that drive is getting filled

how can I stop that filling up

Cloning to SSD then swapping drive letters

What you want done is very simple and can be done in short period of time. Here's my suggestion:
There's 2 modes that Windows can be installed: UEFI and the old legacy MBR. Open Disk Management, look at the disk where your C drive is, if there's a

1. EFI System Partition, your Windows was installed using UEFI.
2. System Reserved partition, your Windows was installed using MBR

Next, Connect your SSD to an available Sata port (no need to format or do anything). Download: Macrium Reflect Free . Install and run. Follow the steps below:

1. From Macrium, click on image this disk under your C drive and save it to either an Internal or External Drive. This will create a single backup image of the whole disk containing your C drive.
2. Again, from Macrium, click on Restore tab and select the image created from step 1, Select your SSD as the destination drive, click Next->Finish
3. Exit Macrium. If your Windows was installed using MBR, Open disk management and make sure the SSD is marked "Active" else go to next step.
4. Shutdown your PC. Disconnect the HD containing Windows C drive then connect your SSD to it.
5. Reboot. Your PC should boot and the Windows should have C as the drive letter.

NOTE: The procedure above is to backup your Windows to an image file then copy it back to the SSD. This ensures proper cluster size aligment for the SSD. In addition, Macrium also perform Trimming for the SSD. This is more preferable than cloning.
