Windows Firewall Disables at First Logon After Boot

Windows Firewall Disables at First Logon After Boot c1751247-22d5-4154-a144-42d7f721fa42?upload=true.png

The image above is a screenshot of the notification that pops up couple minutes after first logon after boot.

Tried the following without fix to the issue:

    • Resetting firewall settings to default settings
    • Checked if Windows Defender Firewall [service] is set to automatic and is running. It is. It also appears to show as running seconds after the notification above pops up.
    • Merge registry settings with default .reg settings
    • Checked group policy settings for my user on local machine
    • Tried clean boot disable all services and startup programs

More details can be found on this Malwarebytes Forum Post

Not sure if this is a bug in Windows or if it is the result of some sort of malware.

    Any help is appreciated.

    :)

    Firewall disabled

    Hi James,

It's possible that a third-party program is disabling your firewall. We'd like to learn more about your concern so that we could provide the proper resolution. We just have a few questions for you:

    • Which build version of Windows 10 is on your computer? To check, click
      Start
, type winver, and press Enter. For example, 14393.1066.
    • Did you make any changes to your computer before this started happening?
    • Which browser are you using to go online? Does this happen when you use other browsers?
    • Does the message appear in all websites, or just specific websites? Please post a screenshot so that we could study it further.
    • Are you using a third-party antivirus program?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

As an initial recommendation, we suggest performing a
    clean boot
to find out if this behavior is caused by a third-party program. This will load Windows with minimal drivers and programs, preventing software conflicts from occurring. If the firewall stays enabled when you go online in a clean boot environment,
check the section How to determine what is causing the problem by performing a clean boot for what to do next.

Note: To return your computer back to normal, check the section How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting.

We look forward to your concern and the result of the initial troubleshooting.

  3. Best free AV and firewall

Can Windows Firewall block outgoing connections yet? If not, it's one step above useless.

Look into Online Armor for a free firewall.
