Windows 10: Windows Firewall not active

Today, I ran into an issue where my Windows Firewall has become inactive and I am not able to active it again. Prior to this, I had no connection to the internet just randomly which was ultimately fixed by running the DHCP Client service as this wasn't running. Then, Firewall started not working. The control panel is stating for me to update my firewall settings and to 'use recommended settings'. I clicked this, and was presented with the error code 0x8007042c. In my resaerch, there was a note made in a different thread on the Microsoft forums that this is related to a dependency not being act

Windows activation doesn't work

This might be caused by Windows Firewall issues. We'd like to know where you bought the activation code. As an initial troubleshooting step, we suggest turning Windows Firewall On. Follow the steps below:

• Go to Control Panel.
• Click System and Security then Windows Firewall.
  
• Then on the left panel, select Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
  
• Select Turn on Windows Firewall, click OK then restart PC.
