Windows 10: Windows Firewall Private Profile Turn OFF

Hi,


I was trying to turn on Network Discovery and enable file sharing (not Homegroup). I'd like to connect to a SMB fileserver running on a linux server on my local home network. When I went to "Network", Windows 10 told me to enable network discovery through a popup underneath the address bar. When I click to "Turn on Network and Filesharing" it immediately turns itself off and the popup appears again. I can click "turn on" to infinity it just keeps resetting and offering the popup again. It turned out that when I disable the windows firewall private profile, network discovery turned on and stayed on. However when I reboot firewall is automatically enabled for private profile.


I'd like to learn how I can permanently turn off windows firewall private profile. As well, as I also use TinyWall as a firewall, I'd like to know how I can completely turn off windows firewall. Please note that for the purposes of everything described above, TinyWall was disabled and was not a culprit.


If anyone knows how I can configure windows firewall to allow Network Discovery to work that would also be of help. Thanks!

windows 10 update turns off windows firewall private setting

After windows 10 does an update my windows firewall private setting gets turned off.

I am only using windows firewall.

STOP TURNING OFF THE PRIVATE SETTING!

Windows Firewall blocks App Store from downloading new apps

Hi,

Let's try to check if the app store you're referring to if it's really blocked by Windows Firewall. See these steps:

• Open Windows Firewall from the taskbar >
  Firewall & network protection > Allow an app through firewall.
• A new window will show up containing the list of the apps that ca be allowed through Firewall.
• Look for the app you want to be accessed, and make sure that the Domain, Private and Public are ticked. That would allow the app store to be accessed.

Let us know what happens after doing the suggestion.

 

Windows Firewall will not turn off

I have Internet Security provided by Bullguard so their Firewall is ON.

Have noted that the Windows Firewall as stated in Security & Maintenance that both are shown ON. Therefore I need to turn off the Windows Firewall.

Tried to turn off the Windows Firewall by carrying out the following procedure without success:

Going into the Control Panel & clicking the Windows Firewall. Clicked in the left hand column, "Turn Windows Firewall on or off"

The display thus turns to "Customise Settings".

For both the Private & Public the Firewall is shown as being ON. Therefore clicked on BOTH "Turn
off Windows Firewall" for both the Private & Public network settings followed by clicking
OK.

New screen display appears "Help Protect your PC with Windows Firewall" showing that Windows Firewall is OFF. However within a couple of seconds a similar display appears on screen showing that both the Private & Public networks Windows Firewall has automatically
been turned back on.

Any solutions please.
