  1. Windows Firewall with polices from a GPO - Stay persistent with firewall disabled

Since the 1st of February, we have observed a new behaviour within an On-Prem AD and Windows 10. After Patch Tuesday 31st Jan.For any GPO defined with setting:Computer Configuration/Policies/Windows settings/Security Settings/Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced SecurityRegardless of state for the windows firewall, these GPO policies will persist.I.e, even if the firewall is disabled via the GUI. Windows will keep applying any rules defined via GPO's.Is this a bug or a feature? Removing any mis-configured rules in this scenario can be difficult.Any GPO rule can be found using Get-NetFirew

  2. Best free AV and firewall

Can Windows Firewall block outgoing connections yet? If not, it's one step above useless.

Look into Online Armor for a free firewall.

windows firewall will not stay disabled

If Avast can't help you with this problem what you might try is if you can disable the Avast firewall then use Comodo firewall, which to me is the best firewall on the planet, then you should be able to also turn off the windows stock firewall and it should stay off.

Because it seems to me you are having a compatibility problem with the Avast firewall and the windows OS.

Windows Firewall with polices from a GPO - Stay persistent with firewall disabled

Windows 10 Creator's Update and Windows Firewall

I just installed the creator's update for Windows 10 at my workplace and see a notification in windows defender security center that my windows firewall is turned off. Our work has the windows firewall disabled through GPO. What changes do I need to make
to the GPO so that the windows firewall stays off and stops the notification from prompting that the windows firewall has been disabled.
