  1. Windows first starts all drives before opening settings or the Recycle Bin.

I got three drives. Two ssds and on hdd. First ssd is for the os and the other one is for large programs. The hdd is only used for data storage. Thats why I have set the power settings to turn off the hdd after one minute if I do not use it. Everything worked perfectly. I'm not quite sure, but I think since I once installed a big program on the hdd, which I thought I would rarely use anyway, it is now the case that Windows starts the hdd before some actions are executed. For example, when I right-click on the desktop to open display settings, it takes a short time before the settings open. Then you hear that the hdd starts before the settings open. This is very annoying. Of course I have uninstalled the program in the meantime. There is nothing installed on the hdd anymore. I cleaned the registry with Ccleaner. And there is also no environment variable that refers to the hdd. So there is no temporary folder on the hdd. The hdd is also not used as virtual memory. Another action that is only performed after the hdd has been started is to open the Recycle Bin. This is done even though there are no files in the Recycle Bin that were on the hdd. Through Google I couldn't even find an approach to solve the problem. Does any of you have an idea how I could solve this? If worst comes to worst, I'll reinstall the PC.

    • Right click on the Recycle Bin icon.
    • Under the Settings for selected location, select Custom size.
    • Fill up the box for your allotted maximum file size for your Recycle Bin.

    Recycle Bin

    Hi, Scout-86.

Bare with me. I'm only a student in Information Technology. I believe the recycle bin might be corrupted, causing it to vanish from the desktop completely.

Try one of these two fixes and see if helps.

    Solution 1:

    • Step 1: Select Start -> Settings -> Personalization -> Themes -> Desktop icon settings.
    • Step 2: Make sure the checkbox for Recycle Bin is checked, then select OK. You should see the icon displayed on your desktop.

    Solution 2:

    • Step 1 Run Command Prompt as an administrator.
    • Step 2 Type the command rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin and press enter.
    • Step 3 Type exit to close the Command Prompt window

    I hope this helps!
