Windows 10: Windows freezes randomly

    Windows freezes randomly


    Hi there,


    My cousin was still using Windows 7 so I just decided to help her and install the Windows on her PC using the USB installation media tool. However, the installation froze randomly at the "Getting Ready screen". I tried to install it again and it went through the installation. But when I copied a file to a different folder, it froze again. By "froze" I mean the computer is unresponsive, meaning I can't move the mouse or do anything. The screen just froze. When I tried to restart the laptop, it froze at "Restarting" screen. I've attached some images below. Could you please help me with this? I think it's hardware failure but have no idea what causes this.

    Windows 10 freezes randomly


    I had already tried turning off fast startup, to no avail.
    Will look at the list you provided, thanks. Hard to do when computer freezes on the Windows loading screen though. *Biggrin
    I had tried that as well... no result.

    To better assist you regarding Windows 10 which freezes randomly, please provide the following:

    • Which is the last Windows update build you've applied to the computer?
    • Are there any third party applications that are currently installed?
    Furthermore, we suggest that you do a BIOS update to your computer. Here are the steps:

    • Check the motherboard manufacturer's website to find the specific model of your motherboard.
    • Go to the computer manufacturer's website.
    • Look for the computer model that you're using.
    • You should find any available BIOS update.
