Windows 10: Windows "freezing" after somewhat idle

Hi there and welcome to my first reddit post,

For the past few months my gaming rig has been having having problems. After either idling for a while, or doing light work or watching videos (don't think it ever happened while gaming), my Windows 10 finds itself in a weird state. Hovering over the buttons on the top right of windows i have open don't make them highlighted. I cant close them, even via task manager. They disappear, but in the task bar and task manager they still appear to be open. When opening task manager while right clicking on the task bar, the button that says task manager remains. I cant shut down Windows digitally anymore, I have to hold the physical power button. It has happened a couple of times where I noticed it and was just in time to still shut it down. It has also happened a few times that i couldn't drag my mouse to my second monitor anymore. I already tried reinstalling Windows in place, and I do not have any overclocking on my components as of now. Hope someone might be able to help me here.

Specs of the PC:

AMD Ryzen 3600x CPU

RTX 2070 super GPU

MSI X470 Gaming Plus Max Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB DDR4 DIMM 3000 MHz/15 (2x8GB) RAM

Cooler Master MWE 750 White -V2

Windows 10 freezes/deadlocks after being left idle for a few minutes

I have done all of what you suggested, and it still freezes when idle for a few minutes. I have just performed a 1 hour + download. Five minutes later, while the computer was idle, Windows 10 froze.

 

all games crash!

ive watch my temps and both the cpu and gpu are within normal ranges. when it freezes it simply freezes the image and stops the sound. i must reboot to get back to windows.

 

Bluetooth still on while idle

Thanks for following the steps. Now, the settings won't take effect if you are only using normal PC idle mode. Normal functionality of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings are to stay connected even if PC is idle. With the settings that you have created, we would
suggest that you set your PC to automatically go to Sleep or
Hibernate once idle. In this way, the settings "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" should take effect.

To set your PC to automatically go to Sleep or Hibernate when idle, please follow these steps:

• Open Control Panel, set view by: Small
  icons.
• Look for Power Options.
• Click on Change when the computer sleeps on the left pane.
• Set a timer.
